A joint effort between the Federal Attorney General's Office (AGU), the National Treasury Attorney General's Office (PGFN), the National Treasury Secretariat and Caixa Econômica Federal should return around R$15 billion to the public coffers.

As long as they are properly identified, the transfer of other values will continue to occur gradually. For this reason, AGU has carried out work to purify the information contained in Sapiens — AGU's legal intelligence system — based on the list of deposits provided by Caixa, which initially identified accounting errors in the records.
The joint effort to verify the requirements for transferring deposits is being coordinated by the Department of Legal Intelligence and Innovation of the AGU Secretariat for Governance and Strategic Management. The director of the department, Union lawyer Eduardo Watanabe, explains that priority is being given to identifying processes with higher values.
“For AGU, this work is highly relevant, as it demonstrates the institution's ability to act quickly in the face of urgent demands that directly impact public finances, and, therefore, the entire Brazilian society. For the Union, [it is important] because the entry of these resources into the National Treasury's Single Account will contribute to meeting the fiscal targets established by the federal government for this year 2024”, points out Watanabe.
